Preliminary Film

For this task we had to create a film, which would demonstrate our understanding of:
Match-on-action
Shot-reverse-shot
The 180 degree rule

This is a storyboard of our preliminary film that we created before filming:

It is a very simple storyline as we want to show our abilities quickly in just a few frames. However, we knew we wanted our shot-reverse-shot to be a moment of tension and confrontation. Therefore by placing someone in a chair and someone standing with desks between them, it gave the audience a sense of power when it was a low angled point of view shot for the questioner and vulnerability and weakness when it was on the low angled POV shot for the victim.
Experimenting with actors, lighting and costume also helped us to get a better understanding of the struggles with continuity. The first time that we filmed we found that the picture was very pixelated and the shot reverse shot was no how we wanted it to be. We considered re-filming only a couple of shots but in order to get the correct lighting and continuity we felt that we would have to re-film our whole preliminary task.
