Set

For the original storyboard:
For the bedroom scene, we decided to look at three possible sets to use that all had pros and cons:

  • Charlotte's parent's room
  • Lizzie's brother's room
  • Rida's sister's room

We decided on
For the room scene, when in Lizzie's brother's room, we decided to put some clothes (that suited the colour scheme of our piece) on the floor to make it appear that a "stereotypical" teenager was living there.
For the shot of the bed, we chose to strip the sheets off so it left a white mattress for Ebony to lie on as
After receiving critical feedback from peers and teachers, we realised that the set in the shot of Sam lying on the bed did not portray that of her character as it was too tidy and empty on the floor. A lot of the panning shots also did not perceive the idea that a teenage girl was living there as the wall and carpet was blue, quite often indicating to audiences that this is a boy's room. We explained we wanted it to purposefully demonstrate that this was not her home and she was "crashing" at a friend's house as a result of not wanting to go back to her own home. However, we realised that this was not made apparent in the film opening and it could confuse the audience and leaving them feeling alienated from the character and narrative as it does not reveal much about her character.
In the second edit of the opening, we had shot new

The set for the brick wall and park scene we chose to put pieces of rubbish on the floor and enbraced the visibility of vandalism or graffiti as we thought it represent the area of where she is living in the way we wanted it to.

For the improved storyboard:
The set for the brick wall and park scene remained the same

Similarly, for the bus stop setting we chose to place pieces of rubbish of the ground and make graffiti fairly visible in the shot.
The front of Samantha's house
we put a collection of empty alcoholic bottles
